5 Easy Steps to Becoming a Member

These steps can be completed in any order, with the Spiritual Baptism Ceremony being the last step.

  • Attend a Member Orientation session. (These are held approximately four times a year and will be announced in the Sunday bulletin, in the newsletter, and on the web site.)
  • Attend 1-2 class sessions of any combination of designated “New Member” classes. (These classes are identified in the Sunday bulletin and the newsletter.)
  • File an Application for Membership to state your intent to become a member.
  • Participate in this ministry through active interest, love and support.
  • Sign up for and attend the Spiritual Baptism Ceremony. (This is held during the Sunday service approximately four times per year.) The minister gives a blessing for the new members, then asks the congregation to bless them also. While we believe it is important to have concrete steps for becoming a member, we know that true membership comes from the heart. When you are ready to become a member, we will welcome you with an open heart and open arms.
*Membership is not a requirement to attend any of our workshops, classes or activities.

Commit

Since our earliest days, Unity Center of Light has invited our spiritual community into an annual practice of thinking about commitment to our spiritual home in the upcoming year. This commitment is our individual conscious intention to grow, to give, and to live from the awareness of our oneness with Spirit. Over the years, this commitment has naturally evolved, just as we have. What began as a simple invitation to support the ministry through giving and service has blossomed into a more holistic opportunity to deepen our individual spiritual lives.

Today, our commitment program encourages each of us to listen to our hearts and choose practices that strengthen our spiritual foundation through consistent prayer and meditation, regular participation in worship, engaging in the study of Truth principles, and bringing loving-kindness into our relationships and daily interactions.

We also ask that we each cultivate a consistent financial support of our spiritual home in whatever way is right for us. Your commitment is a personal covenant between you and your inner Spirit, which makes your financial choice an affirmation of your intention to live from the highest truth you know. It is not about pressure or obligation; it is about conscious alignment, spiritual growth, and supporting the shared vision of our community.

We warmly invite you to take part in this year’s commitment practice, trusting that as you say “yes,” Spirit meets you in that intention and guides your path in beautiful and transformative ways.
